Ok,
hopefully you have managed to update
your hosts file, that was the first step, in initiating your computer
into a stronger private system.
Now we need to keep them out in other aspect's. Using a HOSTS file is
good, but some of these spy ware programs are quite capable of
completely deleting all the contents out of a HOSTS file, rendering it
useless !
There are a few good products out on the market today. I highly
encourage you to consider purchasing these products. I have been
using them for a number of years now and highly
recommend them
1/. Zone

This is a personal favorite of
mine. With Low memory usage, it wont slow your computer down like
others do, and the complete suite covers everything from virus/spy ware

2/. Ewido
AVG Anti Spy ware. Another Program, but one of the
strongest i have found on the net yet ! This program has
discovered and
deleted more spyware, than Microsoft's anti spyware program
has
ever discovered.
One more very strong point i should include, is that this
program is known for its excellent compatibility with other anti virus
programs.
Hand in hand with Zone Alarm listed above, and your virus/spyware
protection is fantastic.

Spyware. Yet another
fantastic Antispyware program. Detections include Adware, Spyware,

5/. (FREE) Microsoft's
Beta Anti Spy ware program. This is a free download from Microsoft
for registered Window's systems.
This program sits in the background similar to any other virus
protection program, and monitors what is going on as you use your
computer. It will block all known spy ware programs, that it has in
it's database and advise you, and ask you if you wish to block, allow
them, etc.
It also blocks sabotage of the HOSTS file, which is highly recommended.
After the install and first scan, it will clean out your computer, and
then you make the settings of how often, what to do at start up etc.

5/. (FREE) Java Cool Spy
ware Blaster
A program designed to also remove and block spy ware, but has other
fantastic options that Microsoft does not offer. I again highly
recommend downloading this product. IT is a free download. (one of the
rare freebies with no added systems).
